Advent Message: Prepare for the END?

CA: The church has entered
the season of Advent.

It's a special season in the
Catholic calendar, when Catholics

prepare for Christmas by letting
the light of Jesus into our hearts.

Wrong again.

My brothers and sisters, hear me.

Advent is not a season where we let
the light of Jesus into our hearts.

You're supposed to be
doing that all year round.

Advent is a season when we
commemorate or we recall that

Jesus came to us once before.

The world was waiting for the Savior, the
world was waiting for the Messiah, and

then on the day of his nativity, Christmas
Day, Jesus the Lord God came to us.

we also remember that
Jesus will come again.

Jesus will come again to
judge the living and the dead.

So Advent isn't really about letting
the light of Jesus into our hearts.

It's actually about the end of time.

That's why the readings are what they are.

The readings point to the end times.

The readings point to the final judgment.

If you're paying attention,
you'll catch that.

The readings that the
readings at mass, I mean.

So how do we prepare
for Jesus second coming?

Because that's what we're
supposed to be remembering.

We're supposed to be using this season to,
to, I guess, reinvigorate Our preparation

for the second coming of Jesus.

How do we prepare?

Well, first, we prepare in a spirit of
joy, just like children when children

are waiting for Christmas gifts.

They spend every day just after
Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve.

They spend every day in
joyful anticipation of the

great things that will come.

On December 25th, right?

When they receive their gifts.

That's primarily how we should be.

We should have a joyful sense of
anticipation for what God has in store

for us after the second coming, at the
resurrection, but, it's true, not all

of us are ready to face Jesus today.

Have you ever asked yourself that?

If my life were to end today,
am I ready to face Jesus?

Know it sounds depressing, but it's
actually a healthy thing to give

that a think every once in a while.

So every day, we should be working harder
to prepare ourselves to meet Jesus.

Little by little by little, we're not
going to become perfect overnight.

God knows that, but it's about the effort.

Every day, prepare yourself Every
day, Live the gospel more fully,

stay faithful to Jesus Christ
and follow him more closely.

So that when that day arrives, and
we don't know when it will arrive,

but when that day arrives, we know
that we'll be ready to face Jesus,

hopefully not in fear and terror.

Because if you, if you're
making your best effort.

to follow Jesus.

You don't have to face
Jesus in fear and terror.

You can face Jesus on the final
day in great joy and hope

So remember that Advent is
not about letting the light

of Jesus into our hearts.

Advent is a season where we
reinvigorate our preparation

for the second coming of Jesus.

We remember that Jesus came before.

And we recall that Jesus will come again.

And so we remember to prepare
ourselves for that, to always

be preparing ourselves for that.

Not just until December 25th,
but every day of the year.
